I purchased a new base station about 2 weeks ago with my generous $100 iPhone rebate. It has been working great up until a few days ago it has been freezing or completely shutting off. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work. The top of it seems a little hot for a router. I mean what does "hot" mean when it comes to apple products but still.

Just right now it did it again. Network completely goes down, I walk over to the router and the light is out. I unplug it, plug it back in and it works fine. It is sitting on top of my desk with nothing around it. The room is cool so I don't see how it should be getting warm or having issues.

I have reset it to factory settings, left it unplugged for a few hours and nothing.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I'd suggest taking it in to the store where you purchased it.

Apple.com store is where I bought it. I went back to the apple online store and read 5 out of probably dozens more reviews on the product that spoke of the same issue.

Apparently Apple is aware of this problem and plans to fix it in a software update but does not have an expected date for that update.

Our of frustration I blogged my experience so far with my new Apple Extreme Base Station. I will update my blog when I find out anything new. I am going to call Apple tomorrow and go by my local Apple retailer and have them check on it also.
