Hello,
I'm trying to get my schools iMacs 10.1.5, 10.1.8 and 10.2.8 to connect to our schools windows server 2003 64-bit for file sharing. When I try the message comes up as "not available" or unable to connect." I can connect to the windows server with my ibook 10.3 and 10.4 but not with my older iMacs. Does anyone know how I can get the older macs connected to the server? Appletalk is enabled on the server and I connect via workgroup only and not domain/AD.
Does this problem have to do with SMB setings? Does any one know of a document explaining how to do this? Thanks for any help.

I think 10.1/10.2 version only support NTLMv1 or Lanman
no encryption or digital packets etc.
May have to tweak this on the server!

are you connecting by SMB or using Appls File Services(MS version) ?

To use 10.1 and 10.2, you'll need to find a copy of "Dave." An older Mac SMB utility.

Thanks to all for your help. I was able to connect 10.1.5 to windows server 2003 via Workgroup using smb://ServerName/Sharename in the Connect to Server from the Go menu. On the Win2003 server I have Services for Macintosh file services on and enabled the guest account. I did not place a password for the Guest account. So, when you're asked for Username and Password on the next screen I just pressed enter and it gave me a list of shared folders on the Win2003 server. I was helped by reading Article ID: 106471 at http://docs.info.apple.com/ar ticle.html?artnum=106471 (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106471)
Again, thanks to all for your help.
