Ive submitted a few hints now on osxhints and for some reason i never see them on the site, nor am i ever told what happens with them...
Are you ment to receive a notification on the state of the hint or what?

Here's what happens...
If you're anonymous (ie not logged in) and you don't provide an email address, then nothing happens -- because I can't contact you -- if your hint isn't used.
If you're a registered user and I choose not to run the hint, then you'll get an email from me (assuming you registered with a valid email address, and that you still check that email address) explaining why the hint wasn't used.
With that said, we did have about 150 or so hints in "never never" land that had piled up over the years -- hints that I had questions on an couldn't reach the submitters, or that I just felt like holding on to for a while. While 150 may seem like a lot, it covered about four years' worth of site activity, so that's a little under one hint per week stuck there. I did not email these authors letting them know where there hints were.
So if your hints are in the never-never land pile, then they may still show up macosxhints someday. If you weren't registered, and didn't include an email, then you'll never know what happened. If you were registered and a hint wasn't used, you should have received an explanation.
