My ipod shuffle won't play songs, the light flashes from green to amber, no song. I've consulted the manual, tried reset, I tried to restore, And went by the book, but don't get any of the prompts I need to get. My ipod doesn't even come up un computer management. Help, of course it happened after having for one year, and I didn't update warrranty.

Sounds like your need the iPod Shuffle Utility. It works like a charm on the problem you describe:

Let me know if does the trick or not.

Dana--
Thank you so much! I had the exact same problem, and spent hours futilely searching apple.com/support for information. But I came to this forum, found your entry in seconds, and it worked like a charm! My iPod shuffle is once again up and running.

I have the same problem, I cannot restore it. I also tried to use the ipod reset utility and I was on the apple forum - no help there (I am with windows xp). I installed and uninstalled itunes. I also restored it on an other computer. But when I want to use it on my computer after a short time he wants to restore it again - I never could use my ipod (it's new)!!!
Anybody can please help?

For everybody that still have the same problem:
For some reason, the iPod didn't "like" to be connected to the front USB ports of my computer, so when I switched to the ones in the back, it all went away and it worked perfectly.
