Ipod Nano Screen Unplug prob.

I have a 2nd Generation iPod Nano that has a problem. when i plug it in it acts regular and says it has full battery and iteracts regularly. but when i try to unplug it, lines appear across the screen, and it doesn't retain any battery

please help

That sounds like the battery to me. Make sure you're charging it via a wall or car charger. If the battery is totally dead, it can have problems charging via USB. Put it into disk mode by turning it on while holding the center and bottom button. Let it charge via this way for 20 minutes or so, to see if anything changes with the unit.
