Sorry to ask this. I saw a thread about this somewhere else on the site, but I can't seem to reach it as an "official member".

I bought a new laptop (PC) running Vista. (Sucks, I know.)

I followed the instructions per the iTunes Website, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173, about how to move my library and songs from old computer to new computer via the iPod itself.

The instructions said to put my "Music" fold on the desktop. I did this initially but then decided that I wanted my music and my library on my external hard drive.

I removed the songs and iTunes library and songs from internal hard drive. I then follwed same procedure but on my external hard drive; however, each time I open iTunes, it comes up blank and when iTunes opens, a new "Music" icon is placed on my desktop with an iTunes folder in it which is empty.

I have to then import my library from my external hard drive each time I open iTunes. Plus, the album artwork doesn't load and I have to import that, too.

It seems that there's a glitch that iTunes only wants to point to the internal hard drive despite the fact that I went to "Edit", "Preferences", "Advanced", and have iTunes folder location pointing to the external hard drive.

I moved the .itl and .xml to the external, too. But, nothing seems to work.

Sorry if this is a redundant question. (Yes, Vista sucks and so do computers with small hard drives.)

Many thanks,
