Powerbook Processor Speed

It would be nice to lower the processsor speed on my G4 Powerbook with the energy saver panel. My G4 400 hardly uses the fan but my G4 667 is fan crazy. I'm sure lowering the processor speed would help, right?

As per a comment made in the Darwin developer's list by an Apple engineer, the Energy Saver feature of lowering the processor speed is in the 'to do' list and has yet to be implemented.

No news about processor cycling either.
