Is there a manual override that will stop iTunes from automatically syncing??? Do I press the option key while plugging in the iPod (or something like that)?

I know about the "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected" button in iTunes.

Most of the time, I want iTunes to sync. Sometimes, I just want to plug in my iPod to charge.

Thanks,
Marc

yes there is, unfortunately I don't know how/where to select the option. I have a new touch and when I first connected it, I had the option to select manual. I don't see it on Itunes preferences, so maybe it's imbedded in the Ipod. i'd search the Apple site.

Besides the option in iTunes, after you connect it and iTunes starts, click on the iPod in iTunes. Click on the tabs in the main window to change sync options.

I had the option to select manual.
Click on the tabs in the [iTunes] main window to change sync options.

Thank you for your replies, but that's not what I'm looking for.

I want to leave iTunes automatic syncing on, and occasionally override it with a keystroke combination. Any help with that?

This would be similar to inserting a CD or connecting an external drive, but preventing the Finder from finding it.

Hold down Cmd-Option while plugging in the iPod. It will temporarily disable sync.

Thank you. That works great.
