I'm a relative newbie to iTunes. Just opened QuickTime Player and ended up with an Apple ad that touted a Free Single of the Week on iTunes. But, when iTunes loaded, the song showed up as costing $.99 like other songs. What am I missing?

Maybe the ad was out of date. The current free song is: 'Pleasure Songs' by 'The Mary Onettes'

Thanks -- I guess that's it, but it makes little sense. I appreciate the reply.

That was probably it. The songs of the week change every week, as the name suggests. There are usually around 3-4 free songs, and there are sometimes TV shows, audio books, etc. After a week, the song goes back to being normally priced, which can be annoying if you forget to download it or discover you actually like the song later or something.
