New iPod user- Playlist question synching

I just purchased an iPod for my wife. When she synchs her ipod with my Mac will it transfer all the songs to her ipod or is there a way to create a playlist for her on itunes and just synch that?

Click the little iPod icon in the bottom right hand corner of iTunes when it's connected (there are two, one is eject). You'll see the iPod preferences and will be able to manage the iPod with individual playlists from iTunes or several other methods.
