I am installing Mac OS X on a G4 (dual), However 1 problem, setting the ip addresses.
In my understanding or rather from using os9 I set an IP address for the network card, this is step two of setting the ip addresses in the install (my mac has another 4 port card but I disable this for the time being) which is : 192.168.1.53,
I then set the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Then the router address, this is the address of my NAT box to get me on the net 192.168.1.160
OK with me so far? I know its long winded but you may need all the facts.
On stage 1 of setting the ip addresses or dns server and so on I set the computer name to localhost and the other name is set the same (using the default setting) the two dns server I connect to to get the web are : 213.120.62.97 and 213.120.62.98 so we've set all the ip addresses and saved the configuration file.
I then start up the server admin use the address of the computer as localhost login and there we are, now I've used a Windows 2k Server and when I set the IP address of the card this applies to the Web Server but on the mac it doesn't seem to do this this is my problem i do not want to use dhcp or any of that stuff i am always getting messages about being unable to determine the ip address of this machine and the slp service always has an alert, and right now I want to chuck the mac out the window so can someone please help, please...
Thanks in advance
