(thanks for the last bit of help, people)

I have a wacom Intuos2, and run apple's X11 + fink.. Is there any way I could make my wacom work in this environment..? In particular on GIMP.. (currently the mouse works as a 3 button wheel mouse, and the pen works, but with no pressure sensitivity).. pressure sensitivity would be niiice. ^^

I love the gimp, and for a lot of work I'd prefer it to PS, but without pressure sensitivity it's not that useful..

thanks in advance. :)

i thought i'd resuscitate this thread...well, basically because i too would like to know if there's any way to use pressure sensitivity in GIMP? Installing the Wacom driver for Linux did nothing.

I'm sure there's somebody out there that has gotten pressure sensitivity to work...or maybe not?

mixel, gtomorrow,

Sorry to say, but XInput support is not available currently in Apple's X11 or XFree86. There has been some discussion on the x11-users list about providing this support, probably in the next release of XFree86.

From the X11 FAQ (http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2001/qa1232.html):

Some known issues:
.....
* OpenGL : XInputExtension is not yet implemented. Maya and some GLUT applications require this extension.

thanks, sao, for clearing up that mystery. Time to re-read that FAQ! :D
