When I select a movie in a format other than mp4 and attempt to convert it by right-clicking on the file and selecting "convert to ipod/iphone", normally it begins the process. But lately, that option isn't there. Sometimes I see the appletv choice on the list, but not convert to ipod touch/iphone. Any suggestions?? I just can't figure this out!

Not all video formats are supported by the average converting tool...so a professional one may do you fine...:)

Why don't you try some other software to do the job like Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/)?

weird...i just downloaded handbrake, selected some unrelated files (mpegs, mov's, avi's) and handbrake said "no valid source found". Am I doing something wrong?

Do the videos actually play in QuickTime, VLC or anything like that? Are you sure they're not corrupt? Or maybe you haven't the right codecs? Try installing Perian (http://perian.org/) as well.

yeah, it's really weird. they all play no problem on the mac. I haven't tried converting those through itunes tho to see if the "convert to ipod" function comes up.
