I have a 160GB iPod Classic and my music library is on iTunes on my PB. I use the USB cable it came with to sync/charge. My question is around my PC as I am traveling and need to bring my work laptop (PC) not my PB. I only want to charge it but each time I test on the PC it asks me to reformat to Windows which I do not want to do. Is it possible to use the USB cable to simply charge off of the PC? Is there something I need to do to make this happen?

I think I recall that Windows won't supply power to a device unless it has been properly recognized.
Does the iPod begin to charge if you ignore or close the reformat request?
You could also buy a wall charger for the USB cord to plug into.

I sync my ipod touch to our MPB at home, and I charge it using my windows laptop when I travel.

I think it works if I don't allow it to covert to iTunes Windows. The iPod is charged and the shuffle seems to be getting a charge as well.
Thanks for the help.:D

Be careful, not to hit the E drive because Windows doesn't recognize the format. I charge my ipod mini in my usb port slot at work without any issues. When I hit the E drive while it's being charged, it does ask me if I want to reformat but I just ignore it.
Please make sure that you have a backup of all of your data on your ipod just in case you accidently format it. Considered being forewarned!
