Creating custom sound for iPhone

How does one 1) make a sound file (i.e. from a movie), and 2) make this file the ringtone on an iPhone?

well, once you have a sound file, you open up garageband, drag the file into it, choose send ringtone to itunes, and select the part of the file you want to be made into a ringtone.

as for making the sound file, you're going to have to be more specific. where are you getting the sound from?
