View Full Version : Installation of BOTH Apple X11 and XDarwin

Maybe it's a dumb question, but here I go:

right now I'm using Apple X11 and installed system-xfree86 4.2-6 with Fink. I'm playing with KDE right now and wanted to install kdemultimedia3 and kdegraphics (through fink install). For both packages, Fink wants to install xfree86-rootless-threaded and related dependencies. Wouldn't that conflict with my X11 installation? Why Fink needs those packages?

I know it is possible to install both Apple X11 and XDarwin, but I'd like to know how to do it without messing everything.

I forgot - here's the info about Fink:
Package manager version: 0.12.0
Distribution version: 0.5.1.cvs

Thanks

JBoivin,

Maybe there are other ways to have XDarwin and Apple's X11 co-exist, but this is the way I did it:

Read carefully and you might be able to use some of the information.

Seems quite doable. I'll try that.

Thanks Sao!

JBoivin,

It is also explained in detail by Michèle Garoche in her post at the "x11-users list":

For access, you need to subscribe first to "x11-users: X11 for Mac OS X discussion list" here:
