I had a friend post a few files to my iDisk's Documents folder (I gave him my password). He logged in using OS9's Chooser and clicking "Server IP Address", then typing in "idisk.mac.com", and then used my username and passwrod to log in. Result: He's connected via AppleShare. He drag-copies two Stuffit files to my iDisk's Documents folder, then drags my iDisk to the trash (unmounting it).

Next, I mount my iDisk from OSX's "Go -> iDisk" menu item. As my username and password are already in my System prefs, my iDisk mounts on my OSX Desktop. I drag-copy the two files he posted down to my local drive. The resulting files are corrupted (according to both Stuffit Expander and Stuffit Deluxe). I unmount the iDisk.

Next, I use OSX's "Go -> Server" menu item, type in "idisk.mac.com" and enter my username and password in the ensuing dialog. I select my iDisk and log in. Result: I'm connected via AppleShare. When I drag over the two files (or even open and unstuff them while they're still on my iDisk), the files are fine and the contents of the stuffed files are complete and uncorrupted.

This leads me to believe that:

1. There was a transitory problem with iDisk's WebDAV protocal that may be gone by now, or...

2. WebDAV has a problem with Stuffit files, or...

3. Whatever protocol was used to upload the files needs to be used to download them (ie, APlleShare "upload - AppleShare "download").

Any comments or ideas what I may have encountered?

Thanks,

Barry
