I've been trying to make it work this morning..it's a french version
of DMW 6.1. It launches normally, loads the websites but it crashes
EVERYTIME i wan't to synchronise with distant folders
Even when i clean every preferences and support applications files

it used to work under Leopard 10.5.7

no fix available @ Adobe , i'm not going back to them
this time

here is the fix from another website... but with the illegal stuff edited out...

1 - install Dreamweaver and any other MX 2004 apps you want to use on another mac, i used a G4 800 with Leopard on.

2 - install using the following Key [volume licence key removed by moderator]

3 - make sure the app launches on the mac and doesnt ask for a key again.

4 - zip this folder up HD>Library>application support>Macromedia it was about 14mb on mine, i zipped the whole thing just for the hell of it.

5 - install dreamweaver on the 10.6 Snow Leopard Mac, it doesn't matter if you launch the app now it will still crash, it wont affect what happens next.

6 - replace the HD>Library>application support>Macromedia folder with the one from the other mac

7 - launch dreamweaver - stare in awe at the splash screen!

8 - make a website, smugly

it seems to suggest that the license software within DW is incompatible with 10.6 and crashes DW

Well, MX is from 2004. You can't reasonably expect a 5-year-old product to work on a brand new OS, nor to be patched -- particularly when Adobe has released new versions.

That's progress. If you don't want to upgrade your software, then don't upgrade the OS either.

Ben.... I am not 'expecting' software from 04 to work on 10.6.. (that is actually someone else's post pasted from another forum.)

I am 'asking' if anyone knows if I can get it working.

Perhaps "expect" suggests a certainty that you don't have. But by posing the question, you would seem to hope, at the very least, that a fix might be possible.

However, I was mostly responding to the post that I quoted, which seemed to "expect" Adobe to continue to provide patches for venerable software. In an ideal world, perhaps they might, but they don't.

Whilst the fix you've provided may well work (though you may want to check the EULA's stance on the method), it is certainly worth mentioning that most software has a shelf-life, and that it cannot indefinitely be used on increasingly modern platforms.
There comes a point where you have to choose: upgrade the OS and ditch the software for the newer version (or some other product altogether); or keep the OS contemporary with the software and hardware.

Today may not be the day of reckoning for DW MX, but its time will come.

Me, too. I haven't been able to get DW MX to work since I bought an iMac with 10.5 installed... crashed on upload to web site and crashed with rollover text. Purchased DW CS4.... but frankly I liked the old MX just a whole lot more and would go back to it in a second if I could. I don't want/need CSS... my needs are very straight forward and simple.
