I couldn't get MPlayer to play my IV50 files. It seems to me that if VLC won't play a file in OSX, nothing will.
After a lot of searching and frustration, I am pretty certain that there's nothing available for Intel OSX that will play IV50 encoded files. It's a shitty, obsolete codec and if there's no support for it now, there probably never will be. BUT, I think I found a workaround, though it's a little time-consuming: I uploaded my IV50 files to YouTube, which automatically converts them to a friendly MP4. You can download from there and presto. Make sure to mark the videos as private if you don't want to share them. It's not ideal in terms of quality, but it's the only thing I found that works if you're without Windoze on an Intel Mac.

You could do in SheepShaver most of what PowerPC/Tiger users do (or did) in Classic, and that should include running QuickTime for OS 9 with the IV50 codec.
If you have the QT Pro version you can do a Save As and convert it to Cinepak or whatever. |

Not sure if that would work. IV50 hasn't been supported on the Mac since OS 9. The company that purchased the standard weren't willing to license it.

I'm talking about the OS 9 version of QT Pro. I'm well aware that there is no OS X support for IV50.
You can run QT Pro, and the IV50 codec, under SheepShaver. |
