Problem with VPN configurations defaulting from IP to private domain

Hi, we have a problem with VPN connections and laptop users.

I’ve configured their VPN settings to use our public IP address but when they connect to the office network—whether locally or via VPN—their VPN configuration automatically configures itself and defaults to our network’s local private domain, which then stops them from connecting to the VPN the next time round.

This, I would emphasise, doesn’t happen with home desktop users whose machines aren’t bounded to the office OD.

Any ideas on how to avoid this problem?
