How to delete extra "From" addresses in Mail

I like Apple Mail except for one annoyance. I would like to delete the addresses in the drop-down "From" list that I don't use. For example, any aliases have two versions, one for mac.com and one for me.com. I don't use the me.com addresses, so I'd like to delete them to clean up the list. I don't have them in the account preferences. Apparently Mail just automatically adds them. Is it possible to delete the unwanted addresses?

Are you sure you mean "from"? That's who sent you a message. Perhaps you're talking about "Previous Recipients" which can be found under the Window menu and edited from there.

He's talking about the "From" list in an outgoing email. His own.

Sorry; When Apple changed over to MobileMe, <yourname>@me.com became an official alias of your original DotMac account. There's no way to remove it. Feel privileged. Those that registered after the change don't get the @mac.com address.

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I just hope Apple doesn't eventually take the mac.com addresses away from those of us who have them.
