Downloaded Flash games as a Standard user
I have a Mac that my kids have been using for some time now. Each of them has a Managed account to limit their time on the machine, and to limit where they can get to on the Internet. They have previously enjoyed games like DinerDash, WeddingDash, etc. on a Windows computer. When I attempted to get these downloaded flash games to run on the Mac, I can not get them to work. I've gone as far as applying Read/Write permissions for Everyone on the application, but it doesn't help. (Using the GUI)
So, recently I thought I would try it under a Standard user account, thinking perhaps they are not as restricted as Managed user accounts. Even in this case, I'm running into the same problem. Before setting permissions on the app, it can't be accessed (small red minus sign on the icon). After setting permissions, the icon shows up normally. The app then complains that it isn't completely installed, so I open the package contents and see the Contents folder doesn't have the same permissions as the application folder. So, I add read/write for Everyone there and select the icon to apply to all sub-items. Then, when I try to launch it, It bounces once on the dock, then goes away. Now, while writing this message I realized that in Unix permissions, in addition to Read and Write permissions, there is also execute, but I'm not seeing that via the GUI. Is that my problem? I need to allow execute for Everyone via a chmod on the command line? |

Fixed it:
chmod -R 777 AppName.app |
