I see. I was building my old projects from a linux machine, which use scons and makefiles. There, I need to use the '-arch' flag to gcc and ld. I guess this surprised me because I thought Leopard was a 32bit OS, but apparently Leopard Snow is 64bit by default (which seems absolutely useless for my needs, but okay).

Mark, thanks for the detailed instructions with Xcode, I'll probably move to using it soon.
