Forum Page Titles
Minor point, I guess...but it would be nice for those of us who use tabbed browsing if the thread name preceded The macosxhints Forums in the title of a thread's page.
As it is now, I've got five open tabs, four of which say The macosx...; this makes it a matter of trial and error to find the tab I'm looking for. |

Thread titles show up fine here in tabs using Safari (screenshot), what browser you using?

Mozilla user here, too. Pretty cool that Safari separates them that way.

Don't know what criteria is used to "grab" the tab titles...the title tags DO contain:

That's the problem: the page titles get truncated in tabs (here in Camino). I think it would be better to dynamically create the page titles as: $"Forum Thread Title" – The macosxhints Forums for the sake of those of us using tab-capable browsers. |

looks like safari just lops off the redundant beginning text of page titles, i.e., a single tab says "the macosxhints forums -..." and a new tab at the site will make both tabs unique after the "forums - " string |

Yep, that seems to be it (in Safari now; originally posted in WaMCom (Mozilla 1.3.1 in OS 9)).
Wonder how Safari handles sites where every page has got the same title? In any case, reversing the two components of a thread's title wouldn't be a bad idea if the engineering overhead is minimal enough... |

Hmmm, interesting. I've subscribed to this thread and when I clicked on the email notification, the tabbed page I ended up with in Safari reads,

Interestingly enough, if I load only a single multipage thread, then open another page from the same thread in a new tab, both tabs read The macosxhints Forum...
If I then open a different thread in a third tab, mervTormel's rule kicks in: the new tab has its own distinct thread name, and the first two are updated to share their thread's name. |
