Panther G3 Performance?

I want to preorder Panther, but would like to hear from anyone who could tell me if it will run faster than Jaguar on my Pizmo 400Mhz, 392MB RAM machine. I feel like I did when I used to use Windows. I was always buying the next version in hopes it would run better and be more reliable, but it never helped. I then decided to give up on it, and switched to the Mac when the "Fruit Flavored" iMacs came out (circa 1998 I think). All in all I've been much happier, except for OSX (10.0, 10.1, 10.2) being a semi-slouch on my G3 hardware. Fortunately each release has been faster than the previous, and reports are that Panther is faster still. I guess I just need some assurance before I fork over the cash for it -- fortunately I can get the Government Employee discount, so it isn't as bad as it could be. Thanks in advance!
