Lightbulb iPod not working with OSX

I have a 2G iPod that I was using with my 9.2 G4 desktop. Transfrering playlists/songs between my iPod and my tower was no problem.

I recently picked up a 17" PowerBook [10.2.6] and the new iTunes 4. When I plug my iPod into the PB, the iPod shows up in iTunes, but I cannot transfer any "newly purchased" music from the PB to the iPod.

Can anyone assist??
Thanx!

I thought 5G iPods were the minimum size. Is your iPod full? Have you updated the iPod's OS? It must be running software version 1.3 to interact with iTunes4 and play AAC encoded music.

by 2G, Im meant second generation [sorry].

thanx for the reply. I don't know if I have updated the iPod OS or not. How can one tell? Will it erase any music on there already [I have about 3 gigs left- it's a 10 gig drive].

Well, you'll have to look for it, that's where it is in version 1.3 of the iPod OS.

found it- it's 1.2.1. Is that the problem?

Will updating erase my data?

That is the problem, and no, updating it will not erase your iPod.. at least it shouldn't and didn't on mine.

you need to update to v1.3, like said before. It won't do anything to the songs already on there.

OK, the upgrade worked great! thanx. Almost too great. Now I can play the new purchased music on my iPod, but I can't on my g$ tower running 9.2.something.

Any more thoughts?

You have to have iTunes 4 to play the music.. iTunes 4 has to have OS X.
