iTunes: turn off rip completed noise
In iTunes, when the program finishes importing a CD, it makes a dreadful noise (if one is listening to music interrupted by it) or a helpful chirp (if one is not listening to music interrupted by it).
I don't want to classify it, but I do want to control it. Does anyone know how to put me in charge of when that sound occurs? I've made my machine silent in terms of error alerts by telling it I have "hearing" trouble, so it flashes the screen (using the Universal Access System Preference). iTunes, alas, is "smart" enough to know my hearing can't be that bad if I'm ripping music CDs, and it still makes the chirps. I've tried menu hunts, and have looked at all of the iTunes prefs. Is there a UNIX command to do this in Terminal, as there is for toggling hidden files? If there is, then it should be not too much trouble to make an AppleScript to toggle the sound on or off. Note, I don't want to kill it forever, only to control it. Moderator, move this thread if it's out of place here.
