iPod skips now wont mount

i sent off my ipod for repair because it was skipping, all the time at like 20 second jumps, thatss about an album a minute. and now its back, they say its fine but it wont mount on OS 9 or X desktop, on 2 different macs, it doesnt appear in disk utility either.
i know the best thing is to send it back but thats a long wait and an effort, if anyone knows how to rectify this, or has had similar experience, then id be glad to hear it.
thanks

The only time my iPod wouldn't mount, I just restarted it, and it worked again. I think you do it by holding down menu and play at the same time for a few seconds...

you should act fast and get them to acknowledge that you sent it in with real problems and it came back with new and different problems. write a letter, very diplomatic, documenting your case. ask it to be escalated up the chain of management.

if that fails, travel to cupertino, stand in the apple lobby and yell **** real loud. that'll always have some effect.
