Home Dir on Network Storage... How to?

I used to keep home directories on external FireWire Drives but wanted to move to a Network Storage for home use. I bought a Buffalo 160 NAS yesterday and was quite sad to find no instructions for setup with macs.
http://www.buffalotech.com/products/...&categoryid=16

I have accessed the NAS's admin page through its ip address in safari and setup shared folders which I can mount. How do I set up my Home directories on this NAS? I always used NetInfo before to put the Home directories on the external FireWire HD. I have read several Discussions on automounting and have tried to follow them but with no success. Is this even possible?

I had a little bit of time today to try some tests. The first thing I did was create a test account called testme and then copied its user directory to the NAS. I then went to netinfo and changed its home to /Volumes/WORKGROUP\;HD-HLAN3DF/testme I got this from dropping the home directory from the NAS into the terminal window. I then deleted the home directory on the internal HD of the PB. This is all how I would have setitup if I was using an external Home dir on a firewire hd.

When I restarted I logged into the testme account was suprised when it came up. However it was not the external Home Directory on the NAS. infact I have no clue where or what it logged into. Does OSX create a guest account if there is invalid data in the netinfo? I knew that it wasn't going to work this way because I amout of my league on this network server. Do I need to setup an automount in the netinfo first and then tie in the home directory with that?

I changed the netinfo home info to point to /Volumes/WORKGROUP\;HD-HLAN3DF/share/testme since share is the name of the setup partition on the NAS. I then did one quick test by dropping the music folder of the testme home directory that came up into the Terminal which showed as /Volumes/WORKGROUP\\\;HD-HLAN3DF/share/testme/Music I then mounted actual NAS and droped the Music folder from the testme home dir into terminal and it showed /Volumes/WORKGROUP\;HD-HLAN3DF/share/testme/Music.

What am I doing wrong here? somebody please help me. I want to learn.

I would appreciate any help or links.
