Airport WAN address.

So I've changed my IP address by spoofing my MAC address on my modem. But still on my wireless airport router the WAN IP it distributes is the same. I would like for that to be changed.

Any ideas? thoughts? Comments?

Are you asking about how to change your LAN IP Adress, which would be different from your ISP assigned IP address.

You ISP will assign your modem/router an IP Addess which would look something like: 219.174.3.33 or whatever.
You Router using NAT will translate that IP adress into its own, which is every likely 192.168.1.1 and then it will distrupute IP Addresses to each connected computer, likely 192.168.1.101, and up 192.168.1.101+

You can configure most routers to change the LAN IP addresses from 192.168.x.x to 10.73.x.x or whatever you like.
You Airport Base Station is likely using 10.0.0.1 and up.

Why are you trying to chaqnge your Local Machine IP Address?

Your computer's IP address is set either by your own computer's settings (if you have it set to "Manual" in System Preferences > Network > Show: your interface, such as Built-in ethernet or Airport > TCP/IP tab). OR, if you have that set to DHCP, then your computer's IP address is set by your DHCP server.

In no way is your IP address set by spoofing your MAC address.

I don't understand why you would want to spoof your computer's MAC address, to be honest. Usually, spoofing a MAC address is only done to get around some security measure, for example when your ISP has locked your DSL account to your computer's MAC address, you may want to make your router spoof it's MAC address to coincide with your computer's MAC address with the purpose of fooling the ISP's security which is designed to not allow you to use a router.

Can you clarify exactly why you want to spoof your computer's MAC address?

Your router does not distribute a WAN IP, it receives a WAN IP from your Internet provider. If you manually change that (which should be difficult and as far as the network is concerned should be 'illegal' in most cases), you will probably lose your internet connection, or at best wreak havoc for your provider and likely lose a significant portion of your expected network data if you cause two identical IP addresses on their network.

If you are being targetted at your current IP address by crackers, I would recommend speaking with your internet provider about getting a new IP address. OR, just unplug your broadband modem for several hours, and when you plug it back in, it's likely you will automatically receive a new IP.

Im banned from a website called "alienaa", and they ban you using your WAN IP or the Public IP that shows in your internet. Now Spoofing your modems MAC address made me recieve a new IP on my modem, but when I switched it to the Router again, my old WAN IP was set into place and everything was the same. So what Im saying is, I need my IP change, but will that change my WAN IP aswell when its going through my Airport router?

That was my first problem, but now when I hook up my Airport Wireless Basestation and go wireless, my WAN IP remains the same. I was extremely frusturated with this, any help here? Im totally Lost.

I'm sorry, but you haven't described what the problem is. It's OK for the WAN IP to remain the same. What else is wrong?

Ok. Are you saying that you got a message saying "IP Address Changed"?

This means that the Airport is giving you a new LAN address.

The WAN address is the IP address you Airport gets from your ISP.

Your WAN address is different from your LAN address. A LAN (Local Area Network) address is your IP address inside the network, in this case, the Airport.

Think of it as a tree, which branches out. The trunk (ISP) splits into branches (Airport, Routers, etc.) which splits into leaves (computers, print servers, etc.)

If you want your WAN address changed, many times the ISP won't allow it.

Your WAN IP address is the external IP address that is seen by the Internet. This IP address is usually not under your control - it is usually assigned to you by your ISP. So you need to talk to your ISP. Nothing you can do on your computer or your network can change your external IP address.

Please explain what you mean by "WAN IP address".
Usually (as I said above) these terms mean the same thing. I.e. your "WAN IP address" is your "external IP address".
In any case, the IP address that is seen by AAA or any external web site is the external IP address that is (as I said above) assigned to you by your ISP.

You've supposedly been banned there - maybe you have to contact them before attempting to return. If that site has banned your IP, then the easiest way will be through another IP (meaning another computer with a different IP), and not somehow spoofing your way in. You may be getting into an area that violates the rules of this site, too.

As everyone has been saying to change your External Address the only thing you can do is turn off/unplug your modem, reconnect and hopefully you've been reassigned a new one.
Your ISP controls this, not you, so if you want something really different you will have to contact your ISP.
