I tried to google a subtitle editor for mac, but all i got is for PCs.
The solo feature of it I am looking for is to make the subtitle match the sound. Thanks in advance! |

Uhhh... what's a "Subtitle Editor"? What kind of files are you wanting to edit?

I want to edit subtitle files .srt and .sub. To specify it, I have some movies and their subtitles, but the sound goes before the subtitle, like 8 seconds. Do you know anything that could synchronize them?

Thank you very much, phaseshifter. Miyu is a very nice subtitle editor to edit subtitle from scratch, but I already have the subtitle files. I think I need to rephase my question, I am actually looking for a subtitle synchronizing tool to make my already existing subtitle could match the audio of the movie. Do you know anything like that?

I was wondering what to use to re-sync .srt/.sub/.sus file subtitles in osx when I came across this thread. thanks!
Just to follow up, I found Jumbler simple and intuitive. http://forums.macosxhints.com/images/smilies/cool.gif I used it to preview the subtitles, see how far off they were using the time-ruler and sound wave pattern, and correct timing just the right amount the first time. It can handle much more complicated manipulations too of course. Including splitting/joining subtitle files for you, auto-optimizing to remove overlapping titles, and fun stuff like drag and drop editing ability. side note: To play separate file subtitles put the subtitles and movie in the same folder, name them the same thing (before the .) and open the movie file in something like mplayer or VLC. |

I was looking for a decent subtitler and I m very happy I found one after several hours seeking time :-)
Submerge is doing the job really great. Priced only 9$ (6,5 euro). After inserting an srt subtitle file, you can adjust size and colors of subtitles and it's possible to export almost all sort of video files (avi, quicktime, flash, ipod, iphone, mpeg, mp4, windows media, real, etc) http://www.bitfield.se/submerge/ |

Here's a native subtitle editor, currently in development stage, but looks promising:

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.. I've been using a very simple subtitle editor which has a very straight forward "sync" ability. Just click add or subtract and then hours/minutes/seconds.
I always use but don't remember the name, now I just went to edit a file, the file opened in a video player, the editor is completely gone as if it never existed!!! I'll post the name if I ever get back to my universe.

Well it seems one of my external drives is hidden from spotlight even though it's not specified as being hidden. Leopard....
Anyway here's the app http://sourceforge.net/projects/subtitleeditor |

Only thing with jubler and other subtitle editors on the mac, they only seem to handle srt (text) files. sub files usually have an idx file with them and (the sub files) are mpeg2 files.
Don't know of any way to edit a sub/idx file. |

I would say Annotation edit http://www.zeitanker.com/content/too...notation_edit/
or Subbits http://www.videotoolshed.com/product...bits-subtitler |

D-Subtitler
That's because sub/idx files contain images of the subtitles, whereas srt files contain text. You can use a subtitle OCR application such as D-Subtitler on the Mac or SubRip on the PC to convert from sub/idx to srt. Use Google to find a working link if the download link on this site doesn't work: http://www.objectifmac.com/dsubtitler.php |
