You should try the standard troubleshooting suggestions:
http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/ (see the "My Mac needs help" section) http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...04011205473937 http://forums.osxfaq.com/viewtopic.php?t=7269 http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html In particular, be sure to do "Repair Disk" (different from "Repair Disk Permissions"!) in Disk Utility when booted from the Install CD/DVD. I.e. you restart from the Install CD/DVD, then run the version of Disk Utility that is available from one of the menus there. See this Apple doc: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214 Be sure to disconnect all non-Apple peripherals. And check the RAM with 'memtest': http://www.memtestosx.org/

I have went ahead and done some of the things suggested to me by hayne. I booted from the OSX install cd and did the repair disk and repair permissions. I ran the hardware test using the OSX install disk. Finally i ran memtest twice, once with 3 loops and a second time with 5 loops. I am still getting kernel panics regularly, this is the last panic i had, ANY IDEAS?:

You neglected to tell us what the results of all that was. I assume that you meant that there were no problems found by either Disk Utility or memtest - but please don't make us guess.

Yes, everything turned out fine. The only thing that had to be fixed were some of the disk permissions, it said it had to fix one or two it looked like. Sorry about that.

I also dont know if this helps but i just realized most if not all the kernel panics happened after the computer's screen had gone dark due to energy saving rules. Could this be problem with the energy saving feature Mac OS X.

Yes i recently did as well. I think i may have solved the problem :fingers crossed:. I reset the NVRAM and PRAM as instructed in one of the many links given to me by hayne.
If you are still having issues i suggest u follow the instructions on the second or third link. They seem to be working after going through various steps. |
