CUPS throws unknown error status 10

Hello,

I am trying to print a "book file" from Adobe InDesign CS3 to a PDF-file in Acrobat 8.0.1. I can normally print all kinds of PDF files fine - it's just those "book" projects in InDesign that don't work.

However, I can print the book perfectly fine to a PostScript file and then print that one manually in Distiller - no clue as to why.

I am getting the error in the console:

E [19/Dec/2007:10:59:04 +0100] PID 1073 (/usr/libexec/cups/backend/pdf800) stopped with status 10!
I [19/Dec/2007:10:59:04 +0100] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.
I [19/Dec/2007:10:59:07 +0100] [Job 57] Backend returned status 10 (unknown)

Anyone has an idea what's going on here? What is error code 10?

I don't know what error 10 is... But I guess you knew that the process pdf800 is an Acrobat-only unix batch program (called a CUPS backend). You could try reinstalling Acrobat or going to Adobe to see if there are any updates. You should also try another pdf-creating route (like the print dialog, or adding a printer called pdf_writer), to see if this is just an Acrobat error or other.

No, I didn't know about that process, thanks.

Unfortunately, I cannot print any other way as the book feature of Indesign requires this particular route. Direct printing doesn't work.

How exactly do I set the "debug mode" for CUPS logging?
