iPod Touch Skipping to Middle of Songs Randomly

Hello All:

This seems to be a problem with more than my iPod Touch as this has occured on 2GB Nano, iPod 80GB, and iPod Touch.

The problem is that if I am playing a song and stop the currently playing song to go to listen to something else, the NEXT time I play the last song that was playing, the iPod will start where I had previously left off. In Audiobooks this is a great feature, but when I am listening to a continuous music segment it is extremely annoying. What is hard to understand is that the iPod will not simply go back to the beginning of the track if you press "Rewind". It will go to the Previous Track on the playlist and NOT to the beginning of that song. Instead, the iPod will ONLY start the song where you left off. For instance, if you were playing a 30 minute song, and stopped at 19:02 minutes, then the next time you were to play that song, it would start at 19:02. The only way to "clear" this is to play the rest of the song all the way up to the 30 minute starting point.

This is not a hard drive issue skipping as I have had this occur on both the flash drive and hard disk versions of the iPods. I believe it has to do with the mp4 format. Does anyone know how to fix this through iTunes? Will I need to convert all of these mp4 formatted tunes to mp3?

Thanks in advance,
Nate

Press Command+I on one of the affected songs (Or Right-click the song, selecting Get Info.)

Click the Options tab. Is "Remember Playback Position" ticked? If so, untick it.
