Angry iPod and IP over firewire preview release

I am running IP over firewire (preview release) between and iBook 600 (snow) and a dual 867. I mounted the iBook's share volume on the dual G4. Then I plugged my iPod into the dual and instead of mounting itself onto the dual's desktop, it instead mounted on the iBook's desktop. ??? I checked the cables first thing thinking that they were mixed...nope. One big white iPod cable running into the G4 and a black one running to the iBook. The iBook was the original computer that I installed the iPod software on so I am not sure if this is a unique bug in Jaguar or possible iPod sharing over a network?? Can anyone duplicate and/or confirm this?

I then disconnected the iPod (when it was safe to disconnect), disconnected the firewire network and then plugged the iPod back in to the dual G4. Guess what!?! my iPod was erased!! anyone know what the deal is here?

appreciate any insight, and maybe this will help save someone from losing thier iPod data.
